Stelvio is not only a beautiful pass with the famous well-curved road, but also an excellent starting point for several perfect mountain tours. The highest nearby peak is Monte Scorluzzo (3,094 m above sea level), which is also suitable for weekend tourists. The ascent path is simple with only a small elevation. The views are also great.

The goal of this tour – the 3,000-meter mountain Monte Scorluzzo (3,094 m above sea level) is very well visible from the pass. The first part of the ascent leads along a gravel road to the Passo delle Partigliole (2,908 m above sea level), which is clearly visible from this shot.

View of the Ortlerhaus

The beginning of the ascent leads along a gravel road managing the Ortlerhaus (3,028 m above sea level). You can go there by bike, which is one of the highest places in Europe where you can go by bike. The surrounding landscape is rather gloomy than pretty. Until recently, there was a glacier, so there are only rocky rubble.

In the saddle Passo delle Partigliole

After about a kilometer walk from Passo Stelvio you are in the higher pass Passo delle Partigliole (2,908 m above sea level). In front of you is another large part of the deglaciated landscape. Here the roads are divided. The road bends to the east our footpath to the west up to the mountain.

Monte Scorluzzo within reach

It is nice to see from the photo that the ascent path is not demanding at all. The top is only less than 200 meters above you.

View of Ortler

Looking back down is also quite interesting. In the background the gigantic Ortler, the highest mountain of this mountain range. The gravel road leading up to three thousand meters above sea level to the ski resort can also be seen beautifully.

Views from the top of Scorluzza

The views from the top are very nice, especially to the main ridge of Ortler with a number of glaciated three thousand peaks.

Military fortifications

On the slopes of the mountain you will also find fortifications from the First World War. The way back to the Stelvio pass is the same as the ascent.
