A small circuit through the center of the mountain village
Sulden-Solda (1,850m) is a well-known mountain village in the Ortles. Climbers gather here to try to conquer one of the local famous peaks, such as the highest Ortler (3,905m), Königspitze (3,857m) or Monte Zebrú (3,735m). Not only climbers, but also mountain hikers have incredible hiking opportunities here. There are also several cable cars such as Funivie di Solda, Kanzel – Pulpito or Langenstein – Orso. If you want to walk through the historic center, you will find that it is not very extensive. There is a famous lake and two churches, which is pretty much it. Still, it's a very nice walk.
A short distance from the center
The largest parking areas in Solda are at the cable car stations. Other places are by the access roads.
A lake in the center of Solda
The biggest attraction right in the village is of course the lake with an island in the middle. A footpath runs around the entire lake, so you can enjoy the views in all directions. The view towards the church is probably the best.
View to the northeast
The view across the lake is also nice to the northeast. You can also see the Kanzel – Pulpito cable car, which takes you above the forest area.
Accommodation in Solda
There are a number of accommodation options in the wider area of the center, so if you would like to spend more days here, there are plenty of options.
Chiesa Nuova
Perhaps the biggest monument of the entire town is the Chiesa Nuova church. Above it rises the highest local mountain, the Ortler
Suldenbach
The Suldenbach glacial stream flows through the entire valley, a tributary of the well-known Adige river
Church close up
There is also a small cemetery around the church
Alte Pfarrkirche
An old church stands right next to it
Solda
It is enough to leave just a short distance from the main road and the town will seem very airy to you
