Cable car above Sulden
You can ascend from the valley surrounding the alpine town of Sulden with several cable cars. Right next to the historic center is the Kanzel – Pulpito cable car, which takes you from 1,850 meters above sea level to above the forest zone at an altitude of 2,350 meters. There are two main routes from the top station – the most popular with tourists is to the Rifugio Serristori ( Düsseldorfer Hütte ). You can also head straight from the cable car to the more difficult Vertainspitze (3545 m)
View of the historic center of Sulden
The cable car is located just a short distance from the historic center of Sulden, where there is also a famous picturesque lake. There are plenty of parking spaces around the cable car
Riding over the valley
From the cable car there is a nice view to the very end of the valley, where there is another cable car –
Looking down
Fortunately, the cable car here is not a gondola, so you don't have to wait half an hour for it to go up. Cabs run continuously.
Looking up at the Ortler
Directly opposite you, on the other side of the valley, sits the highest mountain here – the Ortler
Pulpito - summit station
So here we are at an altitude of 2,350 meters above sea level, a pleasantly high starting point for the hike. Just plan your hike so that you don't need to go up or down the mountain during your one-hour lunch break. At worst, you can wait in the local restaurant.
