Wadi below the Sayq Plateau
Wadi Bani Kharus is another in a series of beautiful valleys now accessible via a perfect asphalt road. The trip begins at the town of Al Awabi and ends after about 30 kilometers at almost the very end of the valley. On this trip you will see the typical mountain semi-desert landscape of Oman
Guardian of the Valley - Al Awabi Castle
There is one larger city on the route of road number 13 connecting Rustaq with Nakhal – Al Awabi, South of it, at the small square castle of the same name, turns the road into the interior of the Wadi Bani Kharus valley. In older sources, you may read that there is only a gravel road – this is no longer true, there is a beautiful new asphalt road.
Riding the Wadi Bani Kharus Valley
A trip to the Wadi Bani Kharus valley is your own destination. The most interesting part of the valley is right at the beginning – lonely trees growing in a wide stony riverbed, high rock walls exceeding the bottom of the valley by a kilometer
Meeting a camel
It is not uncommon to meet grazing camels in this valley
Road surrounded by mountains
Oman is a land of an incredible number of nameless arid mountains and desolate ridges
Mine
Near the village of Mina, the valley extends into a huge rocky plain surrounded by two thousand peaks.
Musaynaah
The largest town in the valley is Musaynaah
Oasis Al Ulyah
For the locals, the goal is an oasis near the last town in the Al Ulyah Valley – shade, water is what you need in hot Oman
Above the oasis
The houses are stuck on a rocky slope above a palm oasis
The end of the road
From the oasis there is still almost two kilometers of road demandingly built on a mountain slope to end at the gate of a family house – there is almost a question of what prominent must live there :-)
Above the oasis
