The area has typical ** Altiplano monuments **, which means very picturesque churches. The villages are otherwise very poor and simple with single-storey houses.

You will not find any city in the whole area. There are only a few small Altiplan villages. The most important is the Sajama, the best starting point for hikes and mountain ascents.
Religious buildings

In this area you will find two preserved churches. One is located right in the village of Sajama the other is in the town of Tomarapi.
