The whole area is freely accessible, only if you would like to go on a trip to the Khardung la saddle, you must have the „Inner Line Permit“. Almost every trip in Leh will arrange it for you. Symbolic entrance fees are paid to most monasteries, especially those often visited by tourists (Thiksey, Hemis)
