Article Martin's hut

The cottage was founded around 1642, in 1795 it was restored in order to operate summer pastoralism. In 1879 it was rebuilt into a simple inn. Since 1912, it has been further renovated and operated as a hotel. During the war, the hotel was used by the German Luftwaffe. It is now privately owned and cared for by a longtime administrator.

The stylish interior and appearance of the cottage also attracted the attention of filmmakers, who in the seventies and eighties in the vicinity and inside the cottage shot some winter shots for the famous films „How to rip a whale stool“ and „Snowdrops and gnats“. in 1924 on the occasion of the organization of the first Winter Olympic Games in St. Moritz. You can see motifs from the Olympic rings, skis and sleds. Carriers brought the tiles here on their backs from a distance of up to 30 km.

The very attractive location of the cottage allows tourists to go in several directions to very popular destinations in the Giant Mountains. In winter, Martinovka is a frequent destination for cross-country skiers and ski mountaineers, for whom an official ski mountaineering circuit is prepared here. Accommodated guests can even come to the cottage by car.

Martinovka offers 42 beds in 2–5 bed rooms, all equipped with toilet and shower. In addition to the dining room and lounge, it is possible to sit on the glazed veranda with beautiful views or go to the sauna or whirlpool. In addition to the restaurant, tourists are very popular sitting on the outdoor terrace overlooking the Golden Hill.
