Sorata is the gateway to treks and ascents in the northern and highest parts of the mountains with the Illampu and Ancohuma mountains. Buses leave from La Paz (from the cemetery) several times a day. La Cumbre (El Choro trek) is accessible by bus from La Paz in the direction of Coroico Do Tuni (Condoriri), Paso Zongo (Huyana Potosí), Chacaltaya and Illimani is already more difficult to transport. In most cases, all you have to do is order an off-road car or travel agency minibus.
