How to speak here
Official language: Turkish. Other languages: the second important language of the country is Kurdish (I speak about 12% of the population) World languages: You can speak German well here thanks to emigrants to Germany and their relatives. You can also speak English here, but more in big cities than in the countryside. Scripture: In Turkey, it was written in Arabic at the beginning of the 20th century. After that, they switched to Latin enriched with a few specific characters.
Population
Nation: Turks as such (speaking Turkish as their mother tongue) are about 80% of the country's population. Others: Apart from the Turks, there is a large minority of Kurds who live in the southeast of the country. Once a large minority of Greeks, they have greatly shrunk after the displacement of more than 1.3 million people in 1923. More than a million refugees from Syria now live here.
Religion
Major religions: Virtually all the country's inhabitants are Muslims. The majority are Sunnis, but there is a very large minority of Alevis (an offshoot of Shia Muslims).
