Indian architecture is not only about Taj Mahal, even though a lot of people think so :-). There are also magnificent forts in Rajasthan, spectacular mughal buildings, historical and still used farm houses in the foothills of the Himalayas and ancient temples scattered throughout the country. Common buildings are not so nice – mostly gray multilevel houses crammed on each other.

• Most tourists pass so-called „golden triangle“, where you can see magnificent monuments in the three cities relatively close to each other -Delhi, Jaipur and Agra.
• There are stunning desert towns and fortresses in the depths of Rajasthan.
• The famous Golden temple is in Amritsar.

In India, of course, you will find mainly Hindu temples, but there are also many impressive mosques (mainly built in the north within the Mughal Empire) and Buddhist temples.

A breathtaking wooden rural architecture can be seen in the foothills of the Himalayas, for example in the village of Jana in Kullu valley.
