Tradition in the valley of the river Enns
Between the beautiful mountains (in the south of the Schladmin Tauern, in the north of the Dachstein massif) lies a village with authentic houses, small farms, with a traditional Styrian atmosphere.
House in the Ennstal
We start the short journey in the town of Haus, which is known as one of the starting points for cable cars that offer their services to skiers in the area.
Family
Along the narrow road and crossing the river Enns, we are greeted by a family of snowmen, which clearly indicates which tourist season is most important for the locals.
Weissenbach
After a snowman welcome, we enter the village. It has retained its traditional appearance, so we will soon come across small farms with some of their inhabitants.
Weissenbach
In front of the center of the village we turn left, ie to the west and climb the narrow carriageway above the village.
Above Weissenbach
We follow a traditionally red and white marked hiking trail. Surprisingly, it is well maintained, it connects some farm buildings. At the very beginning of March, however, there is still plenty of snow all around. The northern hills are shrouded in dense clouds, so the Dachstein massif is hidden from us.
House in the Ennstal
To the south of the valley is a view of the town Haus.
Early spring
The road continues up the forest and can be reached below Dachstein to Ramsau. We turn and descend back between the early spring meadows.

The traditional houses in the village are worth a more detailed tour and a short trip can end in a local cafe.
