The Dachstein massif, with the highest peak of the Hoher Dachstein (2,995 m above sea level), is the most famous limestone massif in Austria, though not the highest. At the top of the massif there is still a small glacier. From the south, you can make your trip a bit easier by using the lift to Hunerkogel. From the north, the way to the top is very long and tiring.
