From Ramsau to Hunnerkogel

The starting point for this trip is the famous sports town of Ramsau am Dachstein. From here there are great views of the southern walls of the mountains. Less than four kilometers west of the city is a turn to the toll road Dachsteinstraße

The Dachsteinstraße is only about 5.5 kilometers long and will move you half a kilometer higher to 1,678 meters above sea level. The toll is 20 Euro. At the end of the road is a large parking lot and a wonderful view of the Dachstein. If you want to save, you can also take the road by bus

The cable car rises almost vertically upwards and it is a great experience

From Hunnerkogel there is an absolutely breathtaking view of the Low Tauern separated by the valley of the river Enns

To the north of the summit lies the Schladminger Gletscher glacier, a popular place for skiers, and even lower, an extensive desolate limestone plateau.

Right next to the Hunnerkogel rises the beautiful peak of the Kleiner Koppenkarstein (2,820 m above sea level)

Looking west, you can see the highest peak of the massif – Hoher Dachstein (2,995 m). You can take a walk along the snowmobile path leading to the Hallstätter Gletscher glacier. A secured path leads to the top itself
