Town below the volcano

San Pedro la Laguna is a small colorful town situated on the slope above the lake. There are now two ports operating the lines Panajechal and Santiago Atitlan. It is absolutely perfect as a basis to the volcano San Pedro and a walk along the lake. In addition, most local guest houses have a balcony with stunning views of the lake and surrounding volcanoes. What else could you wish.

From higher-lying areas in the town (balcony, roof) is a very nice view of the loneliest north side of the lake with Indian villages situated in places in the slope.

Early evening atmosphere at the lake
It is worth to set out for walks and ascents early in the morning, because clouds accumulate from the surrounding jungle almost every afternoon and it sometimes rains even in the dry season. But sun rays can conjure up a wonderful evening atmosphere.
