Famous view of Lisbon

Lisbon offers a number of beautiful viewpoints over the city. One of the most famous is the Miradouro Nossa Senhora do Monte, located practically directly opposite the castle – on the next hill. In addition to the view of the castle, it is an ideal observation point for landing planes. As a bonus to the viewpoint, you can also see the Capela de Nossa Senhora do Monte

The path to the viewpoint
Since the viewpoint is located right in the historic center of the city, you can reach it from all directions via the streets. Perhaps the most challenging is the climb up the long staircase Escadinhas Damasceno Monteiro. The more convenient route is from the historic tram station Rua da Graca, which is about a 300-meter walk.
Tracking landing aircraft
Thanks to the location of Lisbon Airport, planes fly over the city and can be beautifully watched from the viewpoints around the castle.

View of the April 25 Bridge
In the background of almost every city panorama, you will see the monumental April 25 Bridge. The bridge itself is over 2 kilometers long and rises 70 meters above the water.

View of St. George's Castle
Thanks to its location, the viewpoint offers perhaps the most beautiful view of St. George's Castle in the city. The castle itself is certainly worth a visit, as it is one of Lisbon's biggest attractions.

Sightseeing map from Azujelos
Another local attraction is the beautiful description of the view from the painted Azujelos tiles.

Capela de Nossa Senhora do Monte
Besides the viewpoint, there is also a nice chapel.

Continuation of the walk
The ideal continuation of the walk is to another viewpoint, Miradouro da Graça. It is much more crowded with tourists due to its better accessibility. Right next to it is the huge church, Igreja da Graça.
