Beautiful views of the historic district

Alfama is the oldest district in Lisbon. It is famous for its narrow, winding streets and many religious monuments, bars and restaurants. There are also famous viewpoints of the district such as Miradouro de Santa Luzia and the nearby Miradouro das Portas do Sol.
A view of the views
From the Miradouro das Portas do Sol viewpoint, there are not only views down but also to other viewpoints, including the most famous Miradouro de Santa Luzia. From this viewpoint, you can also see the famous statue of S. Vicente and the small church Igreja de Santa Luzia

View of Alfama
From the viewpoint, picturesque houses can be seen and gigantic cruise ships on the horizon. On the left, part of the large Baroque church Igreja de Santo Estêvão can be seen.

View of the Monastery of São Vicente de Fora
The view „up the hill“ is also nice. The huge monastery of São Vicente de Fora towers over the city, which is definitely worth a visit on its own. On the right, the dome of another huge church, Santa Engrácia, peeks out.

Beautiful azujelos
On the walls of the Igreja de Santa Luzia church you will also find beautiful azujelos – typical painted tiles.

MSC Virtuosa
During our visit, the gigantic MSC Virtuosa ship, one of the 15 largest cruise ships in the world, was docked opposite Alfama.
