The most beautiful view of Lisbon Castle
Miradouro da Graça is undoubtedly one of the most famous viewpoints in Lisbon. One of the reasons is that it is right across from the beautiful local castle. In addition, right next to it stands the old church and monastery of Graça (founded in 1271, rebuilt after the earthquake in 1755) with beautiful baroque decoration and azulejos. The viewpoint is easily accessible both on foot from the center and by the historic tram, which has a stop just a short distance away.
Church of Graca
Before you start admiring the view, it is worth visiting the pretty little church of Graca, which is connected to a large monastery.
Azuelos
The church has a beautiful interior including the typical Lisbon Azujelos.
Park with fountain
Between the church and the viewpoint there is a nice little park with a fountain, where you can relax and maybe even have a snack.
View of Lisbon
And finally we are at the viewpoint itself – the city is right below us. Early morning is the ideal time to visit – there are still few visitors and the sun is at your back. In good weather there is a nice view not only of the castle, but also of the famous bridge on the horizon
View of Nossa Senhora do Monte
At the same time, there is a view from here of the higher and perhaps even slightly better Nossa Senhora do Monte viewpoint, hidden under a huge tree.
View of the lift/cable car
Another specialty of Lisbon are the various cable cars and elevators that make it easier to climb the local hills. This one is right below the viewpoint.
View of the castle
The view of the castle is truly breathtaking. It is an ideal next stop on a city tour
