Trip to Gialos beach
A little different Lafkada
Gialos Beach is one of the famous beaches of Lefkada on the west side of the island. You can get here on a newly renovated road with a few bends. The beach is situated in a desolate landscape and looks a little different than other beaches on this side of the island. It looks quite idyllic, but thanks to the boulders in the water, swimming here is not as pleasant as on other beaches.
Exit to Gialos beach
The starting point for Gialos beach is the small village of Athani. There are very narrow roads, after you get out of the village the road will widen and after a new wider road you will descend serpentines down from the cliff to the sea
Road curves
The turn is a total of 12, as on some alpine pass and the ascent is quite steep, so the rental cars get quite busy. At least the road is already wider.

The biggest bustle is right at the end of the road, where there is a parking lot, a tavern and an organized part of the beach

A desolate part of Gialos beach
If you like peace, just go a few hundred meters from the parking lot to one side or the other and the beach is almost only yours. The disadvantage is a lot of larger stones in the sea, so swimming is not as great as on other beaches

Gialos beach is really big, in addition you can see even more famous Egremni in the distance and a high cliff above Porto Katsiki. Exploration is hampered by the local sand pebbles in which people walk really badly
