Pantai Tengah beach fills the southern part of the west coast of Pulau Langkawi. This beach is smaller, quieter than Pantai Cenang further north. Even so, here you will find a variety of refreshment options by the road lying inland – connecting Cenang with Tengah. There are also several accommodation options, such as the very decent Dash Resort located at the very end of the beach.

Sunset over Pantai Tengah

The sunsets are very picturesque at Pantai Tengah, although the sun does not set in the ocean but behind the nearby island of Pulau Tepur

Morning on the beach

The advantage of Pantai Tengah is that it is less crowded than Cenang. Only sometimes in the morning does it get busy for a while when the boats depart from here for the popular Island Hopping trip.

View of Gunung Machinchang

On the horizon, you can also see the famous rock ridge of Gunung Machinchang (708 m), where there is probably the biggest attraction in all of Langkawi – the SkyBridge and the cable car with an amazing view.

South end of the beach

The southern end of the beach ends with a cliff that is overgrown with impenetrable jungle.

Black rocks

If you walk along the beach for about 600 meters, you will reach the black rocks that separate the southern part from the central part. New hotels are being built in the central part, so it is not very picturesque and not worth exploring at the moment.

Accommodation with swimming pool in Langkawi

It is definitely a good idea to book accommodation with a swimming pool in Langkawi, because it often happens that the sea here is not very good for swimming – too much plankton or stinging jellyfish
