Article Niederöblarn

One of the villages, which still retains its traditional character with its buildings. It is a good starting point for hiking to the slopes of the mountains rising south from the valley of the river Enns.

We walk through the village and almost at the end of it turn left up Malistrasse until we reach a meadow with several farms.

We continue along the Strasserbergweg and pass other farmers' buildings with curious silent faces.

Our partial goal is several houses, which stand on a nice lookout point called Gritschenberg.

From Gritschenberg you can descend back to the village of Niederöblarn, but we continue to climb the Strasserbergweg to the ostrich farm. The inhabitants are at home, so we buy them corn and get to know them better.

Early spring weather is always a lottery. Fortunately, the clouds are starting to break through and there are views of the steep walls of the Schartenspitze, Grimming and Multereck peaks.

At about 900 m above sea level, we turn sharply to the left and descend back down. Under the forest there are remnants of snow on the meadows, from the small chapel there is a nice view of the neighboring mountain slopes and the valley.

Before reaching the bottom of the valley and the Öblanerstrasse, we pass the well-kept buildings of one of the many local farms.

Follow the road back to the village Niederöblarn. We are accompanied by numerous haylofts in the surrounding fields, which, according to their appearance, they already remember a lot.
