Dangerous terrain

- Classic: beginning in Zinchen, crossing of the pass Ganda la to Markha valley, walk up through the valley to Nimaling, crossing of the pass Kongmaru la and descent to Martselang in the valley of Indus
- Opposite to the confluence: Start in Martselang and after crossing of the pass Kongmaru la descent through the whole Markha valley up to the confluence with Zanskar. The biggest advantage is that during the descent through Markha valley you will have sun in your back all the time.
- Adventurous combination of crossing from Markha valley into the valley of river Khurna and on to Zanskar over passes Zalung Karpo la or Rabarang la. Frequent wading and possibly impassability of valley of Khurna. Trek only for very experienced!
- Climbing: trek associated with the ascent to the mountain Kang Yatse
