Plain under Kang Yatse
Nimaling (4 840 m asl ) is the highest point on Markha trek, where is built „refreshment“ tea tent. It is also the base for the crossing of the pass Kongmaru la, the ascent to the highest mountain of Zanskar – Kang Yatse, less frequently walked trek through Lalung la to Rupshu, adventurous trek through the passes Konka Wongpo and Zalung Karpo la to Zanskar, to the spring of Markha River or only around the surrounding hills.
Camp Nimaling
After descending from the pass Kongmaru la appear before you initially only pastoral camp Nimaling. There are mostly only a few people, however, if there is no trekking travel agency at the moment. During the last steps you must still overcome Markha River. Luckily, there is a small bridge, so you do not have to wade through. Directly above you rises Kang Yatse. On the left is the flat outlook hill – a secret tip for a trip.
Herdsmen
Even today there are still herders – green pasture is always guaranteed.
Tea tent
Although Ladakh is known for sunny weather without rains, it is not always the case in recent years. But the area around Kang Yatse seems to attract bad weather, which fortunately does not last for very long time. In such weather you will like to use the facilities of tea tent.
Picturesque Nimaling
Nimaling is a picturesque combination of wasteland crossed by Markha river.
Ridge of Kongmaru
Looking back, you can clearly see more than five thousand high, but even so from this side very insignificant and flat ridge of Kongmaru. On the other side of the river is dried cattle dung – valuable fuel for the long winter and for cooking.
Dung drying
Shepherd abode is literally enclosed with cattle dung. Oddly enough, the combustion does not smell at all, but on the other hand, it smokes a lot.
