A secret hike over a fairytale pond
A walk around the Věžický pond is one of the most popular hikes in the Podtrosecký valley, or in the whole of Bohemian Paradise. If you want to enjoy great views of the pond from the tops of sandstone rocks and do not want to pass crowds of people and cyclists, head along its southern side, where there is only an unmarked footpath. This hike is only for the more experienced, because the terrain is quite difficult in several places. It pays to go in this direction, the opposite procedure is much more difficult to navigate.
Spring under Prdlavka
The hike along the south side starts at the same place as after the north, in a relatively large parking lot. From here, continue along the road about 100 meters south to the dam of the pond. Along the way there is also an interesting spring of drinking water, where you can replenish supplies.
View from the Věžák dam
Even the first view from the dam of the pond is worth it, even though perfection is hindered by the branches. The local interest is the outflow of water from the pond which flows below the surface of the river, so it is constantly bubbling interestingly.
Panorama from the end of the dam
Only at the end of the dam is the view ideal and the view great. Here, most tourists and photographers turn it back, but we will continue.
Ascent to the rock above Věžák
A sandstone rock rises above the dam, but the paths will take you to its top, where you will receive a well-deserved reward.
Panorama from the first viewpoint
After climbing the rock, you will have a wonderful view of the pond from above. Here you can sit for long minutes and enjoy. It is probably the best view of this whole tour.
Spring cityscape
Spring also has its charm here. at the end of April, not only cherries bloom in the Bohemian Paradise
Footpath under the rocks
A narrow footpath awaits you from the viewpoint, which traverses the slope below the rock massif. Slipping on damp leaves or roots here would mean falling a few tens of meters down. So be careful.
Panorama from the second viewpoint
The second viewpoint is in places where the pond turns significantly. This view is also worth it.
Descent through the valley
Not far from the second viewpoint, the footpath descends through a rather picturesque rocky valley.
View back to the valley
The path will take you to a wide valley leading to a pond. View back to the descent route.
View of the Tower
From these places you can see the lookout rocks where you were a while ago.
Fabulous view of the Tower
If you take a little noticeable path along the pond – you are going wrong :-), but again you will have some nice views. The trail ends at a rock where you would have to wade.
The third prospect
The right path is, of course, straight up the rock. It is probably the most difficult part of the tour. You can avoid it by going in the opposite direction of the valley until you come across a classic forest path. In this case, however, you will pass this third prospect from the top
Landscape of small rocks and valleys
The landscape begins to be wrinkled with small valleys. It doesn't pay much to try to get to the next prospect here. The rock edge is quite overgrown here. After a while, you will come across the already mentioned forest path and you will continue faster.
Final descent through the canyon
As the forest road goes around a more pronounced valley, sharpen, after a while there will be a deep canyon below you. If you take a good look, you will notice that a path leads through it. So go down to it and walk to the end of the massif.
Rocks and wetlands
You cannot get directly to the pond from here. There are wetlands all around, so continue a few tens of meters along the rock wall until you come across a bike path. This is where the solitude of the rocks and the bustling Bohemian Paradise end
Wetlands of Žehrovka
Without a trip, you wouldn't have much of a chance to move forward in these places
Where next?
You get out of the forest and you are on the picturesque meadows of the Podtrosecký valley. Following the yellow route, you can return to the car park at Věžák or continue through the Podtrosecký valley or head to Hrubá skála
