Car trip around the island of Ingmar Bergman
In the northern neighborhood of Gotland is the island of Fårö. Although it is about 20 km long and offers a lot of interesting things to see, the most beautiful can be easily reached by car in one day. And because it is separated from Gotland only by a shallow strait, which crosses the ferry in 10 minutes, you can also go here for a turn. The opposite strategy was chosen by the prominent director, writer and playwright Ingmar Bergman, who chose this place to live and shoot many films.
Ferry
You will not get to the island other than by ferry (the ferry is a bit flashy sign). It departs from Fårösund at the northern end of Gotland and the ship runs as a shuttle every half hour.
Church
Such a natural center of the island is around the local church. There is also an information center, where they will be happy to advise you on anything. The church itself is worth seeing, although it is typically austere. And there are also interesting graves in his cemetery…
Village idyll
The whole landscape is dotted with photogenic nooks, farms, cottages, windmills …
Rauky
The highest rauky archipelago. And probably also the biggest attraction for visitors …
Seashore
The sea coast on the north side of the island doesn't really encourage swimming …
Fishing village
At first glance, these clusters of cottages look like an open-air museum. But this is a normally functional fishing „camp“, where local fishermen have their cottages with equipment and a boat.
Life
The attentive eye will not miss life in the sea.
Gamla Hamn
Another „rauk field“ is known mainly for its iconic rock gate jutting out of the sea.
Stone and wood
In short, there is still something to see on the island. Actually, a day trip will probably be unnecessarily short, because some have decided to spend the rest of their lives here …
