Lithuania is the southernmost and largest of the three Baltic countries. The capital of this parliamentary republic is Vilnius. It is a flat country (and hence a paradise of cyclists), which flows through 722 rivers and is home to over 3,000 lakes. It is also a landscape of deep forests where remains of castles resemble the heroic and magnificent Lithuanian past. Sights and attractions are not much, but definitely worth a visit (Hill of Crosses, Trakai Island Castle, the Baltic Sahara)
