- From the pass Apacheta Chucura is possible a short side ascent to the scenic mountain Cumbre.
- Alternatively, you set out for a trek from the pass Zongo (below the mountain Huayna Potosí) and join to the classic route in Challapampa.
Taxi

- Right at the beginning of the trek, by the lake Estrellani, is the house of guards of Cotapata National Park, through which the trail passes. No admission fee is collected here, you must only write your name to the guestbook.
- A passage fee is sometimes collected in the villages along the way (e.g. in the village Chucura), it is said to be for the repair and maintenance of pathways.
