Driving through Dades Gorge 1

You will arrive to Boumalne Dades after twenty-kilometer drive along the wide green oases around the river Dades. The road N10 leaves here definitely the river valley and heads to the east towards Tineghir. If you wish to continue on into the heart of the gorge, you will have to drive on the regional R704. A short way after you exit N10, there are already visible ridges on the horizon, through which the river made its way.
 

The gorge narrows behind Boumalne Dades and it then gets wider for a while at Ait Ben Ali – in places where the river broke through the ridge of red rocks. From there you can expect many interesting kilometers, because the road surrounded by colorful rocks.
 

Ait Ibriren is located in places where the road gets for a while into the side valley. They are beautiful views of the mountain scenery.
 

Also from the other side of the valley are great views of the long mountain ridges.
 

Another beautiful outlook place is at Tamellalt, where are beautifully smoothed rock formations – Monkey fingers.

 

Local rock formations towering above the oasis are really very interesting. They are definitely worth seeing.

 

There is another beautiful outlook close behind Tamellalt. Before the road together with the valley bends sharply to the west, it is nice to see how the river flows between the fields directly below the rock formations.
 

While looking to the other side are nicely visible the local smoothed rock formations.
 

Once you pass the twist, an interesting view of the walled village on the other side of the river opens.
 

The rock formations then end, the valley opens up again and you can expect a wide panoramic view of the old castle and village across the river.
