Ascent to Bukit Tabur Extra

He goes on a hike at dawn, when it is not so hot and in the morning there is a high certainty of beautiful weather before it gets cloudy in the afternoon. The transport from the hotel is still completely dark. The starting point of the hike is from Jalan Tiara Kemensah 3. From there, it climbs up the footpath to the foot of the hill. He will complete this section on the way back, so you will see the difference at dawn and in full sun.

You can see why some ridge tops are difficult to climb when you get closer to the ridge. They are actually such rocky pulpits rising high above the surrounding terrain.

The footpath itself is about a meter wide, a pleasant path on compacted dirt. This is of course true in the dry season. In the rainy season, it turns into a really muddy route

The path gradually straightens out and continues practically along the contour to a resting place with benches. From here is the first view of Kuala Lumpur in the distance. All the tallest buildings of this big city can be seen.

From the resting place, we return a few meters to the no-entry sign and here begins the jungle path up to the saddle below the peak. Along the way, there is a view of the forest on KL

A comfortable path will take us to the „windy“ pass. It's pleasant here – a fresh breeze cools the already stuffy jungle. Here the path descends to the other side of the ridge. We will continue here later. Now we will go up the ridge to the top of Tabur Extra. This is the most difficult part of the journey. A steep slope where you have to hold on to roots and vines.

The journey along the ridge itself is an experience. But probably not for everyone. Anyway, technically there is no difficulty here, even an 8-year-old child can climb it without a problem.

To the north there is a beautiful view of the jungle and mountains in the background

We are finally at the top. Just a few tens of meters from us behind the deep saddle is the secondary peak of Bukit Tabur Extreme, which is much more difficult to climb.

The main objective of this hike is this amazing view of the dam that supplies drinking water to Kuala Lumpur

To the south is a completely different world – the big city of Kuala Lumpur

From the summit, we return to the pass by the same route and from there we descend to the other side of the ridge (again on a nice path).

We come down to the intersection where we turn right (to the east) and continue along the contour below the ridge. After a while we will come out again at the resting place, just from the other side. Along the way, we admire the local giants

You will also find nice bamboo passages on this walk. From the lookout/rest point, we are already descending along the path we know back to civilization.
