On the very northern outskirts of Kuala Lumpur, you will find one of the biggest attractions in all of Malaysia – the gigantic Batu Cave. It is not only the cave itself, but also many Hindu temples including a huge statue of Murugan – the god of war. The entrance to the cave is free and there are a lot of stairs waiting for you, as well as a lot of monkeys trying to grab anything to eat or drink.

The cave is located in a huge limestone mountain – Mogot. There are huge parking lots and it's really busy. It is also one of the three most visited places in Kuala Lumpur. There is also a train stop here, for those who want to use public transport.

Temples and Murugán before the entrance

As you enter the pavilion, you will be captivated by the gigantic statue of Murugan and the famous long staircase leading to the entrance of the cave. It is definitely worth visiting the nearby Hindu temples.

Staircase with monkeys

Now the most challenging part of the tour awaits you – climbing the stairs to the entrance to the cave. There are a total of 272 stairs. They are currently thinking about building escalators. On the stairs you will meet the most monkeys in the entire pavilion.
