A piece of jungle between skyscrapers
Faber Hill (106m) is located directly opposite the famous Sentosa Island. They are known for the fact that practically right on top of it is the upper station of the cable car connecting the city of Singapore with Sentosa. You can even go up the hill by car. Much more interesting, however, are the hiking trails that will take you through the rest of the original jungle here.
View of the cable car
From Mount Faber there is a cable car to the hill on Sentosa Island. The cable car crosses the sea strait between the two islands. From this point of view, the starting point for the tourist route is right behind the huge white building of the VivoCity shopping center located right next to the intermediate station of the cable car.
Climbing the hill
We are at the beginning of the route at the VivoCity shopping center. There is, of course, a public transport stop called: HarbourFront Station/Vivocity. You will cross the West Coast Highway and follow the marked route to start climbing up the hill. The surrounding jungle is beautiful. Of course, in the suffocation here, the „endless“ staircase is unpleasant for some.
The original Singaporean jungle
Can you even imagine that before the arrival of man there was only such a beautiful forest?
First views
As the meters increase, views of the region, dominated by the concrete jungle, also open up. Unfortunately, with space dwindling, new projects both here and in neighboring Malaysia are increasingly being built into the adjacent rocky ridges and hills, and the greenery is shrinking.
View of Singapore from Mount Faber
Finally, the staircase ends and we reach the summit ridge. From here, the views to the north open up to endless multitudes of high-rise buildings.
Bells at the cable car
After a while we pass the top station of the cable car. Tourists don't leave padlocks here, but bells. Right next to it is the big bell „Bell of Happiness“.
Mount Faber
Mount Faber itself is about 350 meters from the cable car. You will find various artworks including another Merlion statue.
View from Mount Faber
The view is quite contrasting – nature vs. city
Artwork on Mount Faber
The entire Mount Faber memorial is covered in artwork from Singapore's history.
You can continue along the „ridge“ that leads in a westerly direction for a few more kilometers.
