A tour of Zvíkov Castle

If you want to visit Zvíkov Castle, you must first get to the town of Zvíkovské Podhradí, located at the crossroads of a second-class road. The nearest larger town is Písek. After passing the town, you will reach a large paid parking lot, from where it is about half a kilometer along the asphalt road to the castle gate. The castle is much larger than it seems from a distance. In addition, there are several views of the Orlická dam. As with all castles, it is good to be open or late in the afternoon, when there are no crowds of other visitors

Otava might seem like a good river from Zvíkov, but it is of course due to the fact that we are still on the Orlická dam and the water level is really significantly higher than in the old days.
