Of course, the vast majority of tourists come by car either on the A12 Innsbruck – Landeck motorway or from Germany from Garmisch-Partenkirchen. An alternative is the road from Italy via the mountain saddle Timmelsjoch The fastest way from Prague is along the route: Prague – Pilsen – Regensburg – Munich – GaPa – Sölden (approx. 6 hours, 580km) From Moravia, South Bohemia is a better option: České Budějovice – Linz – Salzburg – Innsbruck – Sölden

The Ötztal Alps are declared one of the highest roads in Europe. In several places it reaches over two thousand meters above sea level. Ötztaler Gletscherstrasse (2,829 m above sea level): the road leading to almost 3,000 meters above sea level was primarily built for skiers on the Rettenbach and Tiefenbach glaciers. There is also the highest tunnel in Europe connecting these two centers. There is also a hiking trail connecting the Ötztal and Pitztal valleys. Kaunertaler Gletscherpano­ramastrasse (2,750 m above sea level): This road takes you along the Gepatsch Dam to the glacier below the Weißseespitze (3,532 m above sea level) Timmelsjoch (2,491 m above sea level) / passo del Rombo /: is an alpine link between Austria and Italy.
