Or how to catch both in one day
The Pitztal Glacier can be found in the picturesque valley of Tyrol. It is skied on it from September to May and we visited it in the summer during the holidays.
View of the Pitztal
We drive through the valley to the village of Mittelberg, which is located directly below the glacier. From here, through the rock massif, the Pitzexpress tunnel leads to the transfer station, which is located at an altitude of 2,840 m.
Pitztal - intermediate station
The cable car runs at intervals and the ride takes a few minutes. After exiting the tunnel, one only expects what weather he will come to. We were lucky to have good weather, even though the highest peak was sometimes shrouded in clouds. There is a nice large restaurant with a terrace, a sports shop with a rental shop and a boarding station for the next cable car.
Pitztal - chapel
In the intermediate station you can visit an interesting modern building after a few meters – the Chapel of White Light.
Viewpoint from Brunnenkogel
Breathtaking views occur when you take the Panoramabahn cable car to the highest peak of the glacier – Brunnenkogel. In addition to a nice view and a restaurant, there are really beautiful views of the surroundings if it works and it's not exactly foggy …

At noon we left the Pitztal and moved a little further, by cable car to Lake RifllSee. Here you can take a few walks, we only went around the lake.

The walk around the lake is about two hours, when you will have a nice run and enjoy the nice atmosphere around :-)

there is a children's playground …

You can either return by the last cable car at five o'clock or descend on your own. There are two variants of descent, shorter and longer, where the shorter is also more challenging – it leads straight down the cable car. A longer and more comfortable route leads across the hill to the valley back to the cable car. So we chose the shorter one, when the rest of the family cursed me, but we met her in good health :-)
