Thailand is a predominantly Buddhist country and this is seen at every turn. Temples are not only in cities but quite often on the tops of mountains and hills. The most important and magnificent temples are, of course, in Bangkok. The most important temples: Wat Phra Kaew – the Temple of the Emerald Buddha standing in the grounds of the Great Royal Palace. Wat Pho, sometimes called Wat Phra Chetuphon with the largest reclining golden Buddha 46 meters long
