Kyrgyzstan Safety
Do you have anything to say about this? Don't hesitate and write your information and experience to help other travelers.
Kyrgyzstan is one of the safe countries with little crime.
Natural disasters
Earthquake: Kyrgyzstan is located in a seismically active zone, so it is not excluded to experience an earthquake here
Dangerous people
National unrest: from time to time, violence between Uzbeks and Kyrgyzs erupts in southern Kyrgystan (Osh, Jalalabad). The last major riots were in 2010, when up to a thousand people died. Potentially less dangerous for foreign tourists.
Diseases and health problems
Altitude sickness: even though Kyrgyzstan is an extremely mountainous country, you will usually not have a problem with altitude sickness. Most treks do not reach four thousand meters above sea level. The warning is therefore more for people who are more sensitive to altitude or get to high altitude quickly (for example, by helicopter to the Inylchek Glacier)
