Travelling by plane
There are only two important airports in the country – the largest in the capital Amman and the other is in the seaside resort of Aqaba. And there is only one national air connection between them.
Traveling by train
The famous railway connecting Damascus with Medina also ran through Jordan. During the First World War, however, it was destroyed in many places and is now inoperable.
Travelling by bus
There is relatively frequent bus service between the towns. There are mostly no timetables and you have to wait until the vehicle is full.
Taxi
- Although it is much more expensive than buses, it may be advantageous for groups of 4 people, mostly because of time.
Travelling by Ship
There is a ferry between Egypt and Jordan used mainly by tourists traveling on a day trip to Petra.
Hitch-hiking
- Local people are quite used to take hitchhikers. But it is not for free, price must be agreed in advance.
