An unusual inclined lookout tower
Just a short distance from the southwestern edge of Prague, an unusual lookout tower rises above the village of Černolice on the hill of Červená hlína. Due to its easy accessibility and proximity to the big city, it is a very popular excursion and tourist destination. From the viewing platform there is a beautiful circular view of the surroundings.
The observation tower is freely accessible.
The unusual shape of the lookout tower
The observation tower has the shape of a rotating hyperboloid with an inclined axis. This creates the „leaning tower“ effect and the building seems to be falling down the hill. This makes the observation tower look like a leaning tower. The author is MgA. Přemysl Kokeš.
Steel structure
The construction was completed in May 2022 and is 30 meters high. The total weight of the steel structure is 33 tons and a total of 1,938 pieces of screws are assembled.
Name Crown
The name of the lookout tower was chosen by local residents based on the upper part of the structure. When viewed from the valley, only the upper part, which looks like a crown, can be seen from the lookout tower.
Circular view
A total of 118 steps lead to the viewing platform at a height of 20 meters. The observation tower is built on top of a hill at a height of 467 m above sea level and offers a beautiful circular view. With good visibility, you can see Říp and even the Giant Mountains
View of Berounka
Looking north, the nearby village of Všenory and the town of Černošice can be seen in the Berounka valley.
Self-service bar
At the base of the observation tower there is a self-service bar with a refrigerator, from which visitors can choose chilled drinks and pay for them at the cash desk or with a QR code. The fridge is regularly replenished.
