Iran is not only a desert but also a very mountainous country. – Elborz: is the most important mountain range in Iran. It rises south of the Caspian Sea. The highest peak is the volcano Damavand. Apart from it, there are more than 100 four thousand mountains. Outside Damavanda, you will find the highest mountains of Elborz in the Takht-e Suleyman Massif. – Azerbaijan Mountains: is in the very northwest of Iran with the important volcano Sabalan (4,811 m above sea level). – Zagros: the largest mountain range in Iran longer than 1500 kilometers. The highest peak is Hazaran (4,500 m above sea level) – Karkas: a hundred kilometer long mountain range in the center of the country with the highest peak Karkas (3,895 m above sea level)

  • The volcano ** Dámavnad ** (5,610 m above sea level) rises above the other peaks of the Elborz Mountains with a huge lead. – the second highest mountain is ** Alam-Kuh ** (4,848 m above sea level), also in Elborz, where there are more than 100 four thousand mountains. – There is also a significant volcano ** Sabalan ** (4,811 m above sea level) in the north of the country belonging to the Azerbaijani Highlands. – The third important mountain range in the country is Zagros with the highest peak ** Dena ** (4 409m)
