Greece Weather and season

Greece can be visited all year round, but the main season is from May to October. In winter it rains more and the sea is only for hardy people.
Spring
The period from March to May is ideal for sightseeing and hiking in the Greek mountains. Flowers bloom everywhere, but the sea is still quite cold and the highest peaks may still be under the snow. In May, however, you can still take a bath. Around mid-spring, the main tourist season begins and hotels by the sea are slowly filling up.
Autumm
At the end of September, the main season ends and the hotels begin to empty. However, you can swim without problems until the end of October, if the weather does not go bad. Autumn hiking in the mountains, which protrude from the golden-colored mountain meadows, can also be interesting. However, October and November are high seasons for olive harvesters.
Winter
Winter is characterized by windy and rainy weather. In addition, there are short days, so this is not the best season for visitors other than those who would like to ski in Greece inland.
Overcrowding
The main monuments such as the Acropolis of Athens or the monastery in Meteora are full of tourists all year round. Most people on the beaches are in August when they take local holidays and on Sundays.
