Walking on sacred peninsula
Stony coast
Walk around the sacred peninsula leads along the path with beautiful views of the other side of the lake with peaks having around 5 500 meters above sea level.
Rock towers
There are many interesting rock towers on the peninsula.
Rock cliff with caves
In the cliff is a series of small caves, which are mostly used as a sanctuary.
The northern part of the peninsula
The northern part is a little greener than the south, so you can see here grazing horses or yaks.
View of Nyenchen Tanglha
The second possible trip is a beautiful ridge way. Set out here early in the morning, ideally at sunrise. You will then have beautifully lit mountains of Nyenchen Tanglha. There is incredible number of prayer flags, so if you have already bought some, it is the perfect place to put them up.
Rock cliff
Be careful not to stumble on a prayer flag during walking on the rock cliff. Fall down from this height could have fatal consequences.
View of the immense plain
At this outlook point you will realize again how huge the distances in Tibet are – immense plains and mountain ridges are all around you.
Tourist village
Looking down, you can see not very picturesque tourist town located on the plain between two ridges. It will probably expand, because the number of tourists, particularly Chinese, is still increasing.
Ridge way to pagoda
It is about less than half a kilometer along the ridge from the tourist town to the top of the mountain. At the top (4 846 m asl) is a building in the form of a small pagoda – style Chinese, not Tibetan.
Looking back from the ridge
Looking back, it is clearly visible that there is also an outlook building on the second hill. So if you want to and weather permits, you can also walk to the other side to enjoy slightly different views.
