Walk through Amoopi Bay
Scenic walkway across four beaches
On the east coast of the island of Karpathos, just a short distance from the capital Pigadia, you will find the picturesque bay of Amoopi (sometimes written only Amopi). There is not only the main beach, lae many others, each completely different. All are connected by a sidewalk, so it is not a problem to try them all at once.
North Amoopi Beach
The northernmost beach in Amoopi is a relatively small, but even more picturesque bay on a white cliff. Further northeast is just the arid landscape and rocky coastline.

The small attraction here is a white cliff, used not only for jumpers, but also as a nice view of the main beach and the surrounding mountains.

Continue south to the main beach. From here you can see the whole bay with absolutely calm water and a white cliff.

The main beach in Amoopi is also the largest – about 150 meters in length – and the most populous. However, it is not as picturesque as a bay in the north.

At the end of the main beach is a small harbor with a nice view of the main beach.

From the port, ascend to the rocky promontory to the church. You are in another world – you will not even meet an animal here.

The local rocks are pretty well overgrown. You are standing on the lookout and you won't even know what's below you :-)
Mountain views
Karpathos is not only beaches, but also beautiful mountains. It is not one of the highest in the area of amoopi, but from the sea the 500 meter high ridge looks quite impressive.

The surroundings of the church are rocky with colorful cliffs, so maximum nudists bathe here.

The third large beach in Amoopi can be seen from the rocky promontory.
Taverna Calypso
The Calypso tavern, overgrown with blooming flowers, is located in the middle of this walk, but it is basically its main point, because there is a parking lot nearby and you will probably come here first.

The next beach is, unlike the previous two sandy – pebble.

The path leads along a pleasant sidewalk for pedestrians only. Looking back you can see the church and the cliffs.

The road along the rocky coast is very nice. There are also a few other places for swimming – without a lot of others.

You are slowly approaching the goal of this walk through the massive rock at the southern end of Amoopi bay. Even in front of it are great beaches in the cliffs. Small first.
