On Karpathos are the ruins of four Doric cities. One of them is the acropolis of ancient Arkasa (Palaiokastro). From the church of Agia Sophia it is only a few minutes along the path leading up the hill directly to the plateau with the remains of the walls and several columns. However, the whole walk has the most beautiful views of the region and the beach of Agios Nicolaos deep below you

Turning at the bridge

The tour itself begins at the bridge on the main road. There is also a sign for motorists. From the bridge we take the side road to the church of Agia Sophia

Views of the deserted beach

The side road leads directly along the edge of the cliff. Below you is a deserted beach, unfortunately full of plastic waste. The mountain views are great.

Exit path to ancient Arkasa

From the church, take the footpath directly to the rock massif. The ascent path is quite obvious and the whole ascent is relatively short. shorter than it seems from below. In addition, with each meter you have an ever better view of the bay, mountains and the city of Arkasa
