Nauders (1,350m) is a pleasant alpine town and an interesting starting point for a number of hikes of varying difficulty. You can also take some really easy walks from there with interesting views. One of them is a walk to the mountain saddle Norberthöhe (1,405m). This does not look dramatic from Nauders' point of view. From the other side, from Switzerland, or rather from the Innu Valley, it is a road with 11 turns that overcomes almost 400 meters of elevation gain.

Start of the walk in Nauders

The hiking trail towards Norberthöhe starts roughly in the middle of the town, where the local stream Valriebach flows into the main valley. So the beginning of the ascents to the saddle is actually a sharp descent into the main valley of Stiller Creek and only after we cross the bridge does the actual ascent begin.

View of the Fluchtwand (2332 m)

Another nice and relatively easy tourist destination – Fluchtwand (2332 m) can be seen from the stream valley. On the left of the shot, you can see the entrance to the gorge, where the road descends into the Innu Valley.

Fairy tale landscape above Nauders

The path climbs through the meadows and you can enjoy the alpine landscape as if from a journal

Panorama of Nauders

As the height increases, an almost complete view of the entire Nauders opens up.

View of the Bergkastel

Looking back, you can see the main destination of tourism in the vicinity of Nauders – Bergkastel. In summer, a starting point for hikes, in winter, the heart of the local ski resort. Here, the cable car will take you up to 2,170 meters above sea level. There is also a large Goldwasser playground for children on the premises. The surrounding peaks are slightly below three thousand meters.

View of the Schmalzkopf (2724 m)

One of the most popular peaks directly from Nauders (without using the cable car) is the Schmalzkopf (2724 m), which rises like a grassy pyramid on the horizon.

Bench at Norberthöhe

Almost before the mountain saddle, we still have to go around the local football stadium – yes, it really is almost in the pass and then there is a „viewing“ bench. In truth, practically nothing can be seen from the pass itself.

In Norbertshöhe

So here we are after a 1.5 kilometer pleasant walk. If you take the pass by bike, it's cool if you go from Nauders. On the other hand, it is a significantly greater challenge. If you have more time and energy, definitely continue to the nice viewpoints Schöpfwarte and Innblick, from where there are amazing views of the Inn Canyon.
