Throbbing heart of Esfahan

The main center and start of most tourist tours around two million Esfahan is at the Square Naqsh-e Jahan („Image of the World Square“) also called Imams Square. With its dimension of 560×160 meters it is the largest in Iran. In addition, at its southern end is the largest monument in the city – Imam mosque. It has a strong atmosphere especially in the evening when the locals held picnics. Most bustle and hustle is here during Ramadan in the evening.
On the square Naqsh-e Jahan
As soon as you enter the square Naqsh-e Jahan, you will be captivated by its vastness and eye-pleasing regularity. In the middle is a huge pool with fountains and in the middle of each side is one monumental building.

Sheikh Lotf Allah Mosque

Imam mosque
On the southern border of the square stands the most famous building in Esfahan – Imam mosque.
Palace of Ali Qapu
On the west side of the square stands the great palace of Ali Qapu.

Bazaar
The whole square is surrounded by the bazaar with many shops with carpets. You will surely be invited here by a wide range of barkers.

Nightlife at Naqsh-e Jahan
The greatest atmosphere has the square after the dusk, when a lot of picnics are held here. There are plenty of them during Ramadan.
