Walk in the tourist center of Iran
Thanks to its sights, Esfahan is deservedly the main destination for foreign tourists in Iran. You will need at least two days to explore the local attractions, mainly around Naqsh-e Jahan and Sabzeh. Among them is a huge historic bazaar
Day 1 in Esfahan
Tour of Naqsh-e Jahan Square
On the first day, head to Iran's most famous and largest square ** Naqsh-e Jahan ** with the adjacent magnificent ** Immam Mosque **. In the afternoon, head south to the historic bridges on the ** Zayanderud ** river. Along the way you can stop in nice parks or see the exhibition palaces. A visit to the bridges and the square is interesting not only during the day, but also at night, when everything is nicely lit and the locals are having a picnic here.

Throbbing heart of Esfahan
The main center and start of most tourist tours around two million Esfahan is at the Square Naqsh-e Jahan („Image of the World Square“) also called Imams Square. With its dimension of 560×160 meters it is the largest in Iran. In addition, at its southern end is the largest monument in the city – Imam mosque. It has a strong atmosphere especially in the evening when the locals held picnics. Most bustle and hustle is here during Ramadan in the evening. continue reading

The most beautiful mosque in Esfahan
The most beautiful building in Esfahan and the biggest dominant of the large Imam Square is Imam Mosque (formerly Shah Mosque). Very beautiful is the entrance iwan with two high minarets. The mosque is open for tourists only very occasionally and for a limited time. Interesting is also a short walk around the entire mosque. continue reading
A tour of lesser-known monuments in Esfahan
Armenian Quarter and Hasht Behesht Park
Perhaps the most tourist-visited city of Esfahan boasts a number of beautiful sights. Everyone usually visits the Imam Mosque on Naqsh-e Jahan Square, the historic bridges, Sabzeh Square and the huge bazaar. Historic bridges of Esfahan
Bridges across the river Zayanderud
River Zayanderud flows through the town from west to east kilometer and a half south of the center of Esfahan. Nowadays, mainly due to irrigation, is the bed of the river, unfortunately dry most of the year. The main attractions here are the number beautiful historic bridges from Sasanian era. You can best start at the longest of them – Si-o-se Pol and continue along the waterfront around the next ones to the most beautiful bridge Khaju. continue reading

Visit to Sabzeh Square and the Bazaar
The next day head to Sabzeh Square and the nearby Jameh Mosque. Let yourself be absorbed by the extensive bazaar.

If the major sights in Esfahan are Immam mosque and square Naqsh-e Jahan, then Square Sabzeh and adjacent mosque Jameh are its less ostentatious variation. Even so, they are also worth a visit, together with the nearby big bazaar. continue reading
