By ferry around French Polynesia
A half-hour boat ride and 21 km – only such a small distance is between the two completely different islands of French Polynesia. Huge Tahiti with traffic jams in the capital Papeete and mountainous almost unpopulated hinterland and pocket-sized Mo'orea, where you can in a small area experience virtually everything what immense Oceania offers.
Port in Papeete
Ferry between Tahiti and Mo'orea goes almost 6 times a day and you do not even need to buy tickets in advance. There are large cruise ships in the port undertaking a popular cruise among the islands of French Polynesia.
Papeete from the sea
Busy and crowded Papeete is probably the nicest from the sea. Visible are only houses in the green slopes, not cars and roads.
Tahitian two thousand high mountains
Several peaks exceeding two thousand meters above sea level remained on the island as a rest of gigantic ancient volcano. You can enjoy the view of them mostly in the morning before they get veiled into clouds.
Panorama of Tahiti
Peaks that seem from the coast huge, are not so impressive from afar. One can only speculate how the volcano could be originally high before the summit has fallen.
Panorama of Mo'orea
After twenty minutes cruise seems Mo'orea really within reach.
Mt. Mouaputa (830 m asl)
You even not yet banked and you are captivated by the beautiful local mountain scenery. Directly above the harbor Vaiare towers beautiful top of mountain Mouaputa.
Port Vaiare
The next ferry is waiting for departure in the port. More important, however, is that the arrival of ferries is linked to buses running around the island. So you can continue to your destination virtually without any delay.
