Ústí nad Labem viewpoints - Vrkoč

The Vrkoč natural monument is located above the Ústí nad Labem local part of Vaňov and can be reached either by climbing from this village or by following the green sign from the Větruše chateau (from this side, pay attention to the slightly marked turn). The hill is interesting mainly for geologists, because after the extraction of its part during the construction of the railway from Prague to Dresden, a demonstration of how basalt forms beautiful columns during breaking off was revealed. From the viewpoint there is a beautiful view of Střekov Castle and Masaryk's Stře­kovská locks, in a south-easterly direction to the local parts of Vaňov and Brná.
