The Bohemian Central Mountains from a bird's eye view

A very nice experience that you can experience in the Bohemian Central Highlands is a balloon flight. It is most often flown in its central part around Terezín, Litoměřice and the Elbe canyon. With good visibility, you can see dozens of kilometers around. The actual flight takes about an hour, but with the preparation of the balloon and the transport to the take-off and landing place, expect around three hours at least. It is ideal to fly in autumn, when the surrounding forests are beautifully colored
Preparing the balloon for takeoff
After the flight participants meet, they move to the take-off location, which is determined according to the current air situation. So the flight path is never clear. After selecting the take-off field, the balloon is unwrapped and the still cold air is forced into it using a fan

Hot air balloon take off
After enough air is forced into the balloon by the fan, it starts to be gradually heated by the burners. After that, passengers board one by one. They mostly fly 4–6 plus a balloon captain. Some baskets have doors, some you have to climb into, which can be a bit of a problem for passengers with reduced mobility

We climb up and along the river Ohře we approach the Small Fortress of Terezin. It is an infamous prison. During World War II, when she served the Gestapo. The Terezín Memorial is now located here

Flight over Ohří
