Cistercian nunnery
In the small village of Předklášteří we find a unique monument – the Porta Coeli Abbey. It is the only still functioning female Cistercian monastery. The most important building of the abbey is the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary with a stunning Gothic portal. Another important building for visitors is the Vorkloster – the Porta Coeli Monastery Brewery.
Monastery brewery
Just across the street from the monastery you will find the interesting Vorkloster microbrewery with an indoor beer hall and outdoor seating (in the summer season). You can also book a tasting or a tour of the beer production.
Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary
As soon as you arrive at the premises, you will be attracted by the parish church, which is famous not only for its fairytale interior, but also for its Gothic portal.
The famous Gothic portal of the church
Not only the amazing Gothic portal, but also the sculptural group set directly into the church wall is worth a detailed inspection.
Fairytale church interior
During our visit, the church altar literally magically shone against the darkened rest of the church.

Podhorác Museum
The provost's building now serves as the Podhorác Museum. Here it is possible to book a tour of the monastery core.
Monastery chapel
Right next to the church is the Monastery Chapel, or convent chapel.
If you don't take advantage of the museum and the classic interior tour, a tour of this monastery is just a short walk before your next trip.
