Road behind the ice falls
Ice falls on Želivka have existed for many years. They are located in one of the quarries between the hydroelectric power plant and Želiv. Until then, only the locals could know about this treasure. In 2011, my father and I discovered this fascinating place and for the first time published where this treasure is located. I come here every year and in recent years it has become a popular place for others.

Treasure on Želivka
Road behind the ice falls
Želivka, which was still called Sázava in the 13th century, has a lot of history behind it. It became an integral part of 500 years, when draperies came to these parts. This caused many buildings here, such as Valchy and in the twentieth century also a water reservoir with a hydroelectric power plant, which brought the first electricity in this region. We start at the Sedlická dam and go in the direction of the river, where we reach a place called Na valše and from there we go through huts and meadows to the hydroelectric power plant, where it is possible to strengthen yourself in the pub U Pihávka and arrange a tour of the power plant. We continue towards Želiv and in the middle of the road we come across a quarry. Where behind the rubble is an ice treasure. We found this treasure in 2011 with my dad. We were so captivated by the beauty that I wrote an article about this place at the time and used one slice of it. Since then, people have started asking me where it is. The locals must have known these ice falls for a long time. This area has become more and more visited and sought after by climbers in the 6 years I regularly come here, who have a unique opportunity to try out the ice surface. I was very surprised this year 2017 by how many people are doing an afternoon walk here. The last part is the Vřesník buffer reservoir or also the Small Sedlická dam. From here it is a short walk to Želiva, where you can visit the Monastery.
